About Dr. Hyatt
Dr. Hyatt is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Born and raised in Baltimore, he attended the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland Dental School. Dr. Hyatt completed a one-year general practice residency in dentistry, followed by an additional year in anesthesiology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland. Baltimore Magazine has noted him many times as one of the area’s outstanding oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Expertise in Dental Implants
A nationally recognized specialist in the highly technical field of implant dentistry, Dr. Hyatt has placed dental implants for thousands of patients of all ages. He is a member of an elite group of the largest dental implant practices in the country and his extensive experience in surgical dental implant placement and bone grafting has earned the respect of colleagues nationwide.
As a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland Dental School, Dr. Hyatt instructs dental students, postgraduate students, and residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on the latest techniques in implant dentistry. He is also involved in providing continuing education for the local dental community on advances in all aspects of dental implant treatment.
Leadership in the Dental Profession
Serving in numerous leadership positions in the profession, Dr. Hyatt is a former board member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners and the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (1994 to 2000). He is a Past-President of the Baltimore County Dental Association (2003-2004). Dr. Hyatt is currently a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland Dental School and is the Division Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He has also served as the principal investigator in numerous research studies involving the development of pain medications.
Dr. Hyatt is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is a member of numerous other professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Maryland State Dental Association, and the Institute for Dental Implant Awareness.
Community and Family
Dr. Hyatt enjoys spending time outside the office with his wife Barbara, daughters Allison and Anna, and son Jacob. His hobbies include golf and skiing with the family. Dr. Hyatt is involved in various community service activities.
