About Dr. Pearson
Dr. Pearson is a Board Certified Periodontist, who has been practicing in Lafayette since his retirement as an officer the Air Force Dental Corp in 1996. He received his DDS from the LSU School of Dentistry. Upon completion of dental school, Dr. Pearson entered the United States Air Force and pursued a general practice residency at Wright-Patterson USAF Hospital in Ohio. After practicing general dentistry for three years, he began his postgraduate residency training in Periodontics. His residency was a combined program at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center/University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Pearson also received his Maters of Science Center at San Antonio.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Pearson has been providing quality periodontal therapy and dental implant treatment for patients throughout the region. His expertise in Microsurgical Periodontics is well known nationwide and he is one of only a handful of Periodontists in the country providing microsurgery to improve the healing process and enhance the aesthetic results.
Leadership in the Profession
Dr. Pearson is an active member in several professional organizations and has held leadership positions, serving as President of the Acadiana District Dental, Chairman and Director of the American Board of Periodontology, and Director of the Louisiana Dental Association. He is also a member of the American Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, as well as the International Team of Implantology, an elite group of specialists that collaborates on research in implant techniques, as well as professional education in advances in implant dentistry.
Dr. Pearson is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the LSU School of Dentistry, where he has an opportunity to instruct and mentor the clinicians who will be at the forefront of Periodontics and implant dentistry. He has also introduced microsurgical procedures for periodontal therapy and dental implant treatment to the students at LSU.
