About Dr. Young
A native of the low country of South Carolina, Dr. Young graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his DMD from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Master of Medical Science in Anesthesiology from Emory University. Dr. Young completed his post-graduate residency in Periodontics at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also received a Masters in Health Science. He has been practicing in Savannah since 1985.
In addition to running a successful Periodontal practice, Dr. Young is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, Southern Academy of Periodontology, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, and American Society of Dental Anesthesiology.
Leadership in the Profession
For over 20 years, Dr. Young has maintained an international lecture series for Periodontists, concentrating on Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontology at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Young has served as a member of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees and is currently serving as Secretary for the Southern Academy of Periodontology.
As a consultant for the American Academy of Periodontology, he has been an integral part of two committees: Research, Science and Therapy and the Task Force on Sedation and Regional Periodontal Matters.
