About Dr. Block Rief

A graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland, Dr. Joanne Block Rief has practiced dentistry since 1986.  She has continued to expand her education with advanced training in cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry. Recognition by her peers includes fellowship in both The Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Block Rief is a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.  She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, and Baltimore County Dental Society.  She served as President of the Baltimore County Dental Society from 2014 to 2015.  She has been voted Baltimore’s Top Dentist in 2013 and 2014, and was the dental adviser for the survey in 2015. 

She has performed dental missionary work outside the U.S. and has also devoted time to providing free dentistry to patients at numerous Mission of Mercy projects throughout Maryland.  When not treating patients, Dr. Block Rief enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, reading novels, walking and antiquing.

Dr. Block Rief and her entire team are committed to providing quality care for patients in a comfortable environment.  The professional staff includes highly skilled, experienced assistants, patient coordinators, and dental hygienists.

To facilitate quality care, the office is equipped with the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment planning. Digital radiography allows Dr. Block Rief to obtain a more in-depth view of patients’ teeth and oral structures, while using much less radiation than traditional x-rays.  SNAP Dental Imaging uses a digital picture and simulation to create a visual image of completed treatment for patients.
